- Wordy: Almost without exception, the strikers voted to accept the offer.
- Concise: Most (or Almost all) strikers voted to accept the offer.
- Wordy: The stones in the old wall, almost without exception, had fallen to the ground.
- Concise: Nearly every stone in the old wall had fallen to the ground
