9.37 Combined entries
In order to keep your index as short as possible, combine entries for closely related concepts. For example,
- Financial management, 35, 45
- Financial systems, 56, 67
can be amalgamated to form one entry:
- Financial management and systems, 35, 45, 56, 67
If the number of subentries is particularly long, the index may be too detailed, as in the following example:
- Engineering courses
- chemical, 46
- civil, 47
- electrical, 48
- marine, 49
A combined entry suffices:
- Engineering courses, 46–49
