Dans le droit des biens, en régime de common law, le mot adversatif est normalisé pour rendre l’adjectif "adverse" dans les termes "adverse enjoyment" (jouissance adversative), "adverse occupancy" ou "adverse occupation" (occupation adversative), "adverse possession" (possession adversative), "adverse possessor" (possesseur adversatif) et "adverse use" ou "adverse user" (usage adversatif).
