In Canadian usage, the verb bias is spelled with either a single s or a double s before a suffix, as in biased or biassed, biases or biasses, and biasing or biassing.

  • The study was invalid because the sample population was biased (or biassed).
  • Many journalists accused the pollster of biasing (or biassing) the results in favour of his own political beliefs.
