To write clearly and concisely, use a verb like disclose, expose, reveal, show or divulge to replace the wordy expression bring into the open. Other possibilities include make known or make public.

  • Wordy: The audit brought the company’s financial status into the open.
  • Concise: The audit disclosed the company’s financial status.
  • Wordy: The investigation brought the crime into the open.
  • Concise: The investigation exposed the crime.
