A native or resident of Alberta’s capital city is called an Edmontonian. While the demonym Edmontonian is encountered in newspapers and magazines, it is often replaced in more formal writing by native, resident or inhabitant of Edmonton, or some similar phrase.
Edmonton is commonly used as a modifier, and Edmontonian is also encountered occasionally.
Note that the term Edmontonian is also used in reference to a geologic age.
Gateway to the North is a popular nickname for the city of Edmonton.
