Filipino (formerly called Pilipino) is the national language—and one of two official languages—of the Philippines; the other official language is English.
Note: Filipino is essentially the same language as Tagalog, a major language of the region.
A native or inhabitant of the Philippines is known as a Filipino (masculine or inclusive) or a Filipina (feminine).
