It is not always clear from the context what is meant by jejune, which has many meanings, including “dull,” “shallow” or “immature.” Where clarity is needed, you may prefer to use such synonyms as juvenile, puerile, insipid or dull.

  • Pop music’s lyrics are often jejune (or juvenile), but they appeal to us nonetheless.
