Liaise and liaison are spelled with an i before and after the a (‑iai-).
- Tapani was the Finnish Embassy’s senior liaison officer, but to me he was simply a neighbour.
- Esmerelda dreamed of a romantic liaison with a handsome prince.
The verb liaise is widely used in Britain, but is rare in North America. Other terms that can be used instead of the verb liaise include negotiate, consult, moderate, coordinate, and ensure liaison between.
- He was sent to liaise (or negotiate) with the interest groups.
