Turk, Turkish

Turkish is a language spoken in Turkey, Cyprus, the former U.S.S.R., southeastern Europe and the Middle East. Turkish is written using a modified Roman alphabet.

  • Speakers of Turkish have migrated all over Europe and North America.

A native or inhabitant of Turkey is called a Turk; the corresponding adjective is Turkish.

  • Turks are justly proud of Istanbul, a city renowned for its history and beauty.
  • Turkish coffee is unfiltered; the grounds are left to settle in the cup after the coffee is poured.
