Vancouver, a port city on Canada’s west coast, is British Columbia’s largest city. Gastown is a popular nickname for Vancouver, but accurately refers only to the oldest section of the city.
A native or resident of Vancouver is called a Vancouverite. While this demonym is found in newspapers and magazines, it is often replaced in more formal writing by native, resident or inhabitant of Vancouver, or some similar phrase.
Vancouver is commonly used as a modifier, while Vancouverite is not.
